Class and Medium

Admission to this Boys' Secondary School is mainly open to Class V, both Bengali and English Media. The Vidyalaya is compleately residential and is affiliated to the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. Boys are admitted here after admission tests, both written and oral.

Eligibility :

Boys reading in Class IV or V and in between 9 and 10 and half years of age as on lst May of the next academic session are eligible for admission test for class V. Candidates detained in Class IV or V or candidates not having any formal education in any school should not apply.

Application Forms are issued to the following categories of boys :

For Bengali Medium, boys should secure 65%, marks in Bengali and English & 70% marks in Mathematics in their last Annual Examinations.

For English Medium, boys should secure 65% marks in Bengali or Hindi and English & 70% marks in Mathematics in their last Annual Examinations.

In case of Grade System, the above marks limit should be maintained.

Persons having faith in the objectives of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission should seek for admission of their wards. Besides, boys should be physically fit and mentally prepared to stay in a residential school and should have the inclination towards living and studying on their own. This being a residential school, all the boys reading in the school have to live in the hostels (Bhavanas).

Date of Issue, etc. :

Application Forms, etc. are generally issued on all working days between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. in February every year from the Vidyalaya Admission Office. Application Forms are not sent by post. Parents or the legal guardians living in distant places may collect the Application Forms etc. through their local guardians or representatives.

The cost of Application Form, Prospectus and an outline of Syllabus and Sample Questions including the Registration Fee amounts to Rs. 100/- only.

Date of Acceptance :

Original Application Forms duly filled in by the parents themselves or legal guardians ( not local guardians or representatives ) are accepted on all working days between 12 noon and 3 p.m. from the third week of February through first week of March. Applications sent by post are not accepted.

The Age-Proof Certificates and the Mark-sheets or Progress Reports (original or xerox copy duly attested) of the last Annual Examinations are verified at the time of acceptance of the Application Forms.

Admission Test :

Admission Test is generally held at Narendrapur Centre only on Saturday/Sunday of the Fourth week of March.

In English Medium, boys are required to sit for the Written Tests in Bengali or Hindi, Mathematics & English. History, Geography and Genera! Sciences are also included.

Boys seeking admission to Bengali Medium are to sit for the Written Tests in Bengali, Mathematics & English. History, Geography and General Sciences are also included.

There will be three papers of examinations carrying 150 marks in total. Each paper will carry 50 marks and the duration of examination for each is 45 minutes.

The syllabuses meant for Classes IV and V prescribed in different Text and Reference books by different Boards or Councils are covered mainly.

A list of the candidates selected for the Oral Test is published in the Notice Board of the Vidyalaya within a fortnight or so, after the Written Test. Enquiry may be made over telephone also.

Any information given in the Application Form, if found wrong subsequently, may affect boy's admission on stay in future.

No admission is made against receipt of donation in cash or kind.

Boys irrespective of caste, creed or nationality are admitted.

In no case, question papers of previous years are given or published in the form of books.

Financial assistance is given to a few meritorious boys belonging to financially handicapped families.

Approximate fees and charges required at the time of admission are Rs. 6000/- only. Monthly Fees inclusive of Vidyalaya and hostel fees and charges are Rs. 1,300/- only (subject to change) at present.
